• St Denys Church

    Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

In partnership with the Parish Council, a Book of Condolence is available to be signed in St Denys Church from 8am-8pm daily, until the day after the State Funeral. The flag is also being flown at Half Mast in respect, except 11am-1pm today, which is a formal Announcement Period for King Charles III.

Open House tomorrow, 10am-12noon (Sat 10th), will continue as we believe many people living alone will appreciate the opportunity to gather, and to share their own memories of the Queen.

This Sunday at 1015am, we shall give thanks for the Queen and pray the Royal Family and next Sunday, we shall use special Liturgy published to be used in all churches across the nation. Villagers are welcome to attend and/or visit the church at any time.

    Revd Paul Eddy, Vicar.

St Denys is a welcoming church in the Evangelical tradition, standing at the heart of Stanford in the Vale.  St Denys is one of three worshipping centres in the Parish of Stanford in the Vale with Goosey & Hatford, within the Diocese of Oxford in the Church of England.

We attract people from a variety of different Christian backgrounds and seek to make everybody welcome, whether you already count yourself as a Christian, or are just looking.  We offer a range of services from the 1662 Prayer Book to very informal family worship, and a monthly Messy Church in the village hall.

You are very welcome to join us at any of our services. On this site you should find everything you need to know about us. If you want to speak to us further about anything, then please see details on Who's Who page.

    Services & Covid-19

We are pleased to be meeting in person again. Our usual pattern is a 10:15am Holy Communion service each Sunday, except the 4th Sunday when it will be Morning Worship.

We are maintaining our Covid restrictions to keep worshippers safe, and require worshippers to antibac hands at the door, register attendance at the welcome desk,  maintain social distancing, and wear a face covering unless they have a health reason that prevents them. If you have any Covid symptoms and/or have symptoms of a cold/Influenza, please do not attend church to respect those who may have immune deficiencies.

Please note:  Also because of the current increase in Covid infections (in Dec 21 / Jan 22) we would encourage you to take a Lateral Flow Test before the service. These are FREE and can be ordered via https://www.gov.uk/ordercoronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests Hand gel will be provided and must be used on entry, before communion and on exit.

Due to lack of fundraising events during the Covid pandemic we have a shortfall of funds. If you are responding to the Vicar’s Appeal and wish to make a donation towards our £23,700 shortfall, please visit www.stewardship.org.uk/pages/St_Denys_Friends

If you would like a receipt, or are a Tax Payer and wish us to reclaim Gift Aid, please email vicar@stdenys.org so a receipt/Gift Aid Form can be emailed to you.

    Thank you very much.

St Denys Kids meets in the small Village Hall for children from Reception to Year 6. Please would parents/guardians drop children off by 10:10am, and collect them after the service.
